Objective

To obtain a position on a team that complements my skills and challenges me to push the web and my own knowledge in new directions. To build and improve on processes, sites, and applications that generate revenue and value for clients and radical new experiences for end-users. To work in a dynamic and social environment where I am constantly stimulated and never idle.

Education

Green Mountain Valley School

Class of 2001. Honors and Advanced Placement Curriculum, Varsity Soccer, USSA and FIS Alpine Ski Racing.  Had the opportunity to travel around Europe and North America ski racing.

Champlain College

BS in Business with focus in e-Business Management, Class of 2006.

Successfully started and operated an eBay auction business to complement studies.

Encouraged and helped the college to build their “Bring Your Own Business (BYOBiz)” Program which provides student-entrepreneurs assistance with building their unique ventures.

E-Business Experience

www.phreeryder.com (1999-2001)

Started first e-Business at 14  with a friend, We had a “Free Stuff” site that contained links to online and offline promotions. Generated $75k in revenue from referrals and pay per click advertising during the first year.  Spent the remainder of high school building websites for small businesses in central Maine. Sold my portion of PhreeRyder before leaving for college.

www.secondhandski.com / www.gotradingpost.com (2002-2008)

While attending Champlain College, I developed a skiing and snowboarding classified site called www.SecondhandSki.com which grew into www.gotradingpost.com, an eBay auction business. This “click and mortar” business gave me the opportunity to master customer service and sales skills and taught me a great deal about catering to the unique needs of businesses and individuals. Over the course of running the business it generated almost a million dollars in revenue, had 6 employees and allowed me to developed strong management, budgeting, and organizational skills. I also mastered web design, CMS’s, and various other web technologies during this time.

www.Champmonster.com (2005-2008)

I have always been amazed by how many people believe in Champlain’s  lake monster, in 2005 I put up a site with all the information I could find on this creature.  It was immediately flooded with thousands of daily visitors and somehow immediately made me the regional Champ expert.  The site generates a bit of revenue, but mainly generates television and interview requests. “Charlie Champ Chaser” has been on ESPN, the Discovery Channel, and in dozens of papers and documentaries.

I have also created multiple other sites which cannot fit here.

Employment

Big Sky, Montana Grooming & Snowmaking (2002-2003)

Travelled West for a year to be a ski bum.  Got a night job as a snowmaker/groomer that fit around my skiing.   Operated heavy equipment and learned a lot about the west coast ski industry including avalanche safety.

IBM Manufacturing Control Center (2007-2008)

I was recently laid-off from IBM in Essex Jct. I worked in their IT department where my main responsibility was ensuring uptime of the entire operation during the hours from 7pm to 7am. This included troubleshooting fab tools and their software, and most importantly being able to respond rapidly when we had system failures that effected production. When it hit the fan I was responsible for identifying the problem’s root cause, contacting the system specialists that could solve the problem, and managing the recovery and clean up. This job taught me a lot about managing people and solving problems in stressful situations where minutes often mean thousands of dollars in lost production.

Dealer.com Search Engine Analyst (2008-Present)

Currently working as a search engine analyst for our clients (car dealerships).  I’m maintaining ongoing SEO campaigns, coming up with new search and social-related products, and streamlining our operations in any way possible.  Driving traffic any way I can. Gunning for that number one spot (on Google).

Honors & Distinctions

Received the Champlain College BYOBiz Cornerstone Award in 2007 for my role in developing the program.

Received Champlain College President’s Alumni Award in 2007 for success and leadership in my career and contributions to the community.
